Dr Nauman Hashmani is among a few clinician-scientists in Pakistan with an MBBS degree from DOW Medical College and is a resident at the Hashmanis Group of Hospitals. The youngest son of a renowned eye surgeon – President, Ophthalmic Society, Chairman, Hashmanis Group of Hospitals and Hashmanis Medical Welfare Foundation - Dr Sharif Hashmani, whose contributions in the field of optometry are no stranger. Mr Hashmani does research in Optometry and Ophthalmology while his current interests are refractive surgery and ocular diagnostics. With remarkable efforts, he laid the foundation of Pakistan Research Initiative. This initiative aims to promote research and ways to conduct research according to international standards. He also had the privilege of having his journals published both nationally and internationally. Dr Nauman Hashmani also worked as an editor and edited numerous articles on the state of medical education and health sector in Pakistan and had two articles published on Research New Technological advancements in medicine. He also worked as a research intern at McGill University in 2013. Nearly 17 researches have been published in PubMed.
Following his father’s legacy, Dr Nauman Hashmani is also of the view that blindness and vision impairment need dire attention therefore, research should be done to deal with the prevailing issue.
Not only does his contribution stop here, but he also takes active part in volunteering activities such as offering his valuable voluntary services to Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation, helped in pediatrics department, directed and managed patients through OPD department. He also provided his valued assistance to Indus Hospital by managing their newsletter back in 2011. He also rendered his assistance to Darul Sukun and Muslim Association by organizing free medical camps across the country.
His participation has proved to be beneficial for millions of students aiming to perform research and patients with vision impairment and have been able to regain their eyesight after receiving treatment/surgery at Hashmanis Group of Hospitals and Hashmanis Medical Welfare Foundation.
